Rain Event Weather Information for the Week of October 16, 2017

WEATHER INFO: Heavy rain is expected in our area beginning tomorrow with the potential for more than an inch of rain falling in the next 24 hours. Another round of heavy rain and wind is predicted for Saturday. Localized flooding or ponding on streets is possible.

SANDBAG STATIONS: St. Helens Public Works is currently setting up sandbag stations at McCormick Park (next to the ball fields) and at 1230 Deer Island Road (across the street from the Transit Center). Signs are placed along the road to indicate where the pile is located.

Shovels and empty sandbags are on site. We strongly recommend bringing your own shovel in case someone takes the courtesy shovels that we leave near the sand pile. Please be respectful of the fact that the sand pile is to be used for flooding purposes only.

STORM DRAINS: During heavy rain events, leaves in the street can clog storm drain grates and cause dangerous ponding on roads. Please help us keep storm grates clear! Do not rake or blow leaves into the street. If you see a covered or clogged storm drain in front of your home or business and can safely clear the leaves, please do so. If you see areas of dangerous ponding, you can contact the St. Helens Public Works Department during regular business hours at 503-397-3532 to report the problem. After hours, please call non-emergency dispatch at 503-397-1521.
