St. Helens Police to Host "Lemonade with the Law"

St. Helens, Ore. – On Thursday June 15, 2017 officers from the St. Helens Police Department and our friends at Burgerville will host “Lemonade with the Law.” From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the public is invited to join police officers for a free lemonade courtesy of Burgerville, located at 715 S. Columbia River Hwy. Modeled after the popular “Coffee with a Cop” and “Cocoa with a Cop” events, this event will provide a unique opportunity for community members, particularly children, to meet with police officers, to ask questions and enjoy an ice cold beverage.
Since the majority of contacts a police officer has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations, the conditions may not be the most appropriate time for a casual conversation. We recognize that children may be especially nervous about connecting with an officer in uniform. Visiting with a police officer over some lemonade is a great way to remove the barriers that can get in the way.
“Our last social event was very popular and well attended,” said St. Helens Police Chief Terry Moss. “With thanks to Burgerville, this one should be just as fun,” he added.
