Police Seek Additional Information in St. Helens Vehicle Theft

UPDATE, June 30, 5:30 p.m. - The suspect is now in custody. 

 

ST. HELENS, OR -- At approximately 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, a silver 2013 Ford F-150 was stolen from the Ace Hardware parking lot in St. Helens, 155 S. Columbia River Highway. The owner of the truck witnessed his vehicle being stolen and attempted to stop the suspect. The vehicle owner jumped onto the open driver’s side window while the suspect was driving away. The owner eventually fell off of the vehicle, and the suspect was seen speeding south on Highway 30 before turning onto Sykes Road.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 40s, 5’ 10” tall, and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has buzz-cut black hair and was last seen wearing dark colored shorts and a dark colored t-shirt. A suspect matching the same description was later seen attempting to steal a vehicle in Scappoose but fled the scene. He was last seen on Highway 30 in Scappoose.

  • Never attempt to stand in front of or jump onto a moving vehicle. A vehicle is not worth risking your life.
  • Before leaving your vehicle unattended, always lock all the doors and roll up all the windows, even during the upcoming summer heat.
  • A vehicle should not be left running unattended in Oregon.
