Deadly Use of Force Incident Related to St. Helens Shooting
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 9, 2019
ST. HELENS, OR – At approximately 5:26 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, St. Helens officers responded to a report of a shooting incident at the St. Helens Chevron located at 115 N. Columbia River Highway.
The incident led to the deadly use of force by police. This caused the prolonged closure of Highway 30 around milepost 35 in both directions. It is anticipated that the highway will reopen at approximately 6 p.m. The suspect has been confirmed deceased at the scene.
Oregon State Police is the lead investigating agency. Multiple incident scenes are currently being investigated.
