As Chief of Police, I am pleased to welcome you to the St. Helens Police Department. Originally established in the late 1890s, the St. Helens Police Department currently employs sixteen police officers and an office specialist. The department also has a reserve unit of four volunteer officers. Our dedicated staff serves a population of thirteen thousand people, spread over five square miles.

Chief of Police
Police Chief Terry Moss was sworn in as police chief of the St. Helens Police Department on April 3, 2013. Chief Moss has extensive experience with the St. Helens Police Department, having served in various positions for over the past 23 years. He was hired in September 1991 as a patrol officer and has since served as a detective, sergeant and lieutenant. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Portland State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
