Work Underway At McCormick Park Playground

McCormick Park Playground Site After Equipment Removal

We’ve said our sad goodbyes to the old playground equipment at McCormick Park which was removed last Saturday, March 13. Thanks to the upkeep of our Parks Department, it provided St. Helens with over 20 years of fun! The brand new McCormick Park playground is expected to open again at the beginning of May. The new playground will be the one of the largest all-abilities playgrounds in the Pacific Northwest thanks, in part, to a community grant from the Moda Assist Program.

Where will you take your kids to play until the new playground equipment is installed? Don’t worry: there are still plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun in St. Helens! If you haven’t already, visit our playgrounds at Campbell Park, Columbia View Park, Godfrey Park, and Heinie Heumann Park.

Looking for a picnic area away from the construction? Have your favorite lunch in the sun at Campbell Park, Civic Pride Park, Columbia View Park, Godfrey Park, Grey Cliffs Waterfront Park, Heinie Heumann Park, or Walnut Tree Park.

Information about St. Helens parks and their amenities is available on the St. Helens Parks & Recreation website: https://www.sthelensoregon.gov/parksites.

You may be asking “Where is the old playground equipment off to next?” We’re happy to report that it’s staying within the community. The old equipment was donated to Snoopeeland Child Development Center. We’d also like to say an extra thank you to the volunteers from Snoopeeland who helped take down the old equipment and move it to its new home.
