St. Helens, Ore. – The St. Helens Public Library invites you to immerse yourself in “A Universe of Stories” this summer during the Summer Reading Program and Summer Library Challenge for youth, teens, and adults. Program sign-ups for all age levels begin on Monday, June 17.  This year’s theme, “A Universe of Stories,” pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of NASA’s first manned moon landing.

Youth and teens are invited to take the St. Helens Summer Library Challenge. In addition to tracking time spent reading, youth and teens track ways in which they explore, create, and help in order to earn prizes along the way. The challenge is designed for all age ranges, from babies through teens. At registration, participants receive a free book. There is the opportunity to win weekly prizes, including another free book and items from local businesses. There will also be weekly raffle prizes for participants who go above and beyond.

For the Adult Summer Reading Program, the first 100 registrants who sign up beginning on June 17 will receive a free bag. Participants can write book reviews or play book bingo and turn these activities in to be eligible for weekly prize drawings and a grand prize drawing on August 12.

The Library will also be hosting a number of events throughout the summer that the St. Helens community is encouraged to attend. Summer Reading registration is not required to attend these programs. If an event looks interesting, the Library invites you to be there!
