St. Helens Public Library Holds Genealogy Conference September 21

ST. HELENS, OR – The St. Helens Public Library is hosting a free, day-long genealogy conference on Saturday, September 21 at the library.

Columbia County Genealogical Conference: Bridges to the Past offers two tracks for attendees: an introductory course for those individuals just starting their research journey and a track specific to Oregon research. Six speakers, including Accredited Genealogist Susan LeBlanc and Laurel Smith, past president of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon, will cover everything from the basics of research for newcomers to advanced search tactics for experienced Oregon genealogists.

Kate Eakman will be the conference keynote speaker. Eakman grew up hearing Civil War stories at her father’s knee and fell in love with history and genealogy at an early age. She has a master’s degree in history and over 20 years’ experience as a genealogist.

The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Helens Public Library. While the conference is free, pre-registration is required and limited to the first 80 registrants.
