FREE REPAIR FAIR HOSTED BY ST. HELENS PUBLIC LIBRARY

St. Helens, Ore. – The St. Helens Public Library is hosting a repair fair on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Library. The repair fair is a free event where people can bring household items that need simple repairs to the Library and work with a repair expert to restore the item to working condition.

The Library is partnering with volunteer experts to offer these free repairs to the community. From a lamp that needs a new plug, a bicycle with a flat tire, a zipper that needs re-attached, or a chair with a wobbly leg among others, volunteers will be available to look at items and offer repair assistance. Repair categories include, but are not limited to:

  • Small household appliances
  • Bicycles
  • Minor vehicle replacements (headlights, windshield wipers, etc.)
  • Furniture
  • Clothing and Jewelry
  • Toys
  • Musical Instruments
  • Sewing Machine Tune-Ups

Registration is required prior to the event. This allows Library staff to ensure that a repair volunteer is available to assist you during your reserved 30-minute time slot. To register, visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4ca8a62ea7f8c34-repair. Select your preferred 30-minute reservation window and provide a description of the item and the repair it needs. The Library will confirm your registration three days prior to the event. On November 5, come to the Library with your item and you will be paired with a repair volunteer to assist you with your item. If your repair requires a replacement part (e.g., headlight, plug, fuse, etc.), please bring the part with you.

The Library cannot guarantee that all items will be repaired within the allotted time or that volunteers will be able to repair all items. Items are brought to the repair fair at the risk of the owner.

The Library is still accepting volunteers for this event. If you would like to volunteer for the repair fair, please contact Nicole Woodruff at nwoodruff@sthelensoregon.gov. In addition to people who have repair skills, the Library needs volunteers to help greet and direct participants.
