Columbia County Reads Takes off in 2021

“Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race” by Margot Lee Shetterly has been chosen as this year’s Columbia County Reads selection. Set amid the civil rights movement, “Hidden Figures” tells the true story of NASA’s Black female mathematicians who played a crucial role in America’s space program. “Hidden Figures” is available to check out from all Columbia County libraries, including the St. Helens Public Library, in adult, young reader, and picture book forms. The Columbia County libraries hope that this year's selection will appeal to a wide age group of readers and will awaken the desire to transform yourself through education.
