National Engineers Week: Meet The Rest of Our Team
We introduced civil engineer Alex Bird earlier today, but have you met the rest of the Engineering team? This small group is responsible for a huge portion of St. Helens infrastructure, and they do a tremendous job!
Engineering Project Manager I Sharon Darroux received her civil engineering degree from Syracuse University in New York, and has worked a total of over 20 years in design and construction in both the private and public sectors. She was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she grew up, and has been living in Oregon since 2007.
She was hired by the City in 2009 to coordinate the City’s Lateral Rehab Program as a part-time, term-limited employee. In 2012 she was hired as an Engineering Technician, then reclassified to Engineering Project Manager in 2015, and Engineering Manager earlier this month.
As Engineering Manager, Sharon's hopes for the Engineering Division are "to provide responsible, high quality and cost effective service to the community to ensure we are always meeting the needs of the local community."
Construction Inspector Tim Underwood began working for the City in 1999 as an Engineering Technician, making him the longest serving member of the Engineering Division team! After many years working as a Technician, the City needed an inspector for its numerous construction projects. In January 2011, Tim was designated as the City’s Construction Inspector where he currently serves as inspector of all public infrastructure. Tim also assists in reviewing and approving right-of-way permits, building permits, and oversees utility coordination meetings with the several utility franchises within the City.
