Engineering Project: North 7th, 9th, and 11th Street Waterline Project

Construction is nearly complete on a waterline project the City began this spring to install over 1,700 feet of new six-inch and four-inch ductile iron waterline pipe along North 7th Street, North 9th Street, and North 11th Street. The old waterlines on these streets are two-inch galvanized and four-inch OD steel water mains that leak and do not allow fire hydrants to be installed.

The City hired C & M Excavation and Utilities, LLC, to work on this project. In addition to installing new waterlines, the project also includes the installation of gate valves, fire hydrants, temporary and permanent blow-offs, an air release valve, and the reconnection of 34 water services to the waterline main. Drainage was also improved on North 11th Street by constructing a 48-inch culvert with catch basins and area drains to replace an open ditch system.
