2019 Waterline Improvements Project

In late March 2019, the City started construction work to replace old, leaky 2-inch galvanized water mains on North 7th Street from Columbia Boulevard to Wyeth Street and on South 11th Street from Plymouth Street to Umatilla Street.

Over 1,100 linear feet of new 6-inch ductile iron pipe water mains have been installed, in addition to five new gate valves and three new fire hydrants on North 7th and South 11th Streets.

The construction work, which was designed and managed by the City’s Engineering Division, was awarded to Turney Excavating, Inc. in March of this year for $174,620.

With the new water mains in place, water service customers should see St. Helens Public Works crews on their streets over the next several months as they begin to replace and connect water service lines from the old pipe to the new water mains. By choosing to have the water services transferred to the new waterlines by the City’s Public Works crew (instead of the contractor), the City was able to save thousands of dollars that can be used for other water main replacement projects.

Project Highlights:
