McCormick Park Improvements

McCormick Park Playground Final Layout Design Image

PROJECT FINISH DATE: MAY 2021

The City Council approved a new playground from Wildwood Playgrounds NW for installation at McCormick Park to replace the current structure. Site preparation will begin in early March with installation to begin mid/end of March of the new playground. With this installation of playground equipment, the City of St. Helens and McCormick Park will have one of the largest all-abilities playground in the Pacific NW.

In addition to new all-abilities play features, the playground will include fall protection and a greatly expanded footprint with new play options.

As of April 8, 2021, the old playground equipment has been removed (the structure was donated to Snoopeland Child Development Center), site preparation is underway, the majority of the new playground equipment has been delivered, and installation of new equipment has begun.

The improvements are being funded through money the City sets aside for park improvements and thanks to a Moda Assist grant won through community voting. The Moda Assist Program is a partnership between Moda Health and the Portland Trail Blazers to bring positive outcomes to local communities. The program committed $20 per each Trail Blazers assist during their games – double last season’s amount from the two partners – to install an all-abilities playground at the end of the season.
