The City of St. Helens Public Works Department is seeking applications for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Utility II.  This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment facilities and systems.  Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to those listed in the attached job description.

Qualifications Required:  Graduation from a high school education or GED equivalent, and two (2) years of experience in wastewater treatment and collections, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in wastewater treatment plant maintenance and operation activities; skill in operation of some of the tools and equipment listed in the job description; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; and ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; work includes protected exposure to biological and chemical hazards including infectious bacteria, bodily fluids, and chemicals.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid State Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one
  • State of Oregon Marine Board Boater Education Certificate, or ability to obtain one

Salary:  The current salary range for this position is $3,877 (Step 1) to $4,713 (Step 5) per month.  This is a union covered position.  The City also provides an excellent benefits package.
