POLICE SEEKING ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING SHOOTING SUSPECT

Suspect in July 16, 2016 shooting in St. Helens

On Saturday, July 16, 2016, at about 12:45 a.m. residents in the 2200 block of Columbia Blvd in St. Helens Oregon reported hearing gunshots. Responding officers found empty shell casings in the street, but no victims, suspects or damage associated with the gunfire.

            Several hours later a man came to the St. Helens Police Department and reported that he was involved in a verbal altercation with another man at the Chevron gas station located at 115 N. Columbia River Hwy, St. Helens Oregon. He reported that as they both drove away from the gas station, the other man shot at him.    Officers determined that this was the same incident that resulted in the 911 call on Columbia Blvd.

            Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect and his vehicle captured in surveillance video. The suspect is described as a white male approximately 30 years of age. He was last seen wearing a red stocking cap and grey hooded sweatshirt. His vehicle is an early 90’s, standard cab Chevrolet pickup that is light grey or silver in color.
